Gardiner police respond to multiple overdoses, make arrests on Neal Street

GARDINER — Gardiner Police Officers responded to assist Gardiner Rescue with an overdose on Neal Street at approximately 10 p.m. Monday.

It was reported that CPR had been started and Narcan was not available.

Upon arrival, officers observed multiple people in and around the residence.

An officer identified the overdosing male and administered Narcan.

Officers cleared the residence so Gardiner Rescue could safely enter and continue administering aid to the overdosing male.

While officers were collecting information and securing the scene, a second male from the same residence began overdosing.

Immediate aid was rendered, and a second Gardiner Rescue unit responded.

Gardiner Rescue was able to work efficiently and effectively to revive the first male, who denied transport to the hospital.

The second male did not respond to administered Narcan, so he was immediately transported to MaineGeneral in Augusta.

While on scene, officers seized illegal narcotics that were in plain view for destruction.

After further investigation, officers learned the identity of one of the males on scene, who was currently wanted on a cash bail from another county.

Officers located the male at the residence and placed him under arrest.

He was transported to Kennebec County Jail.

Officers continued investigating and learned that a female from the residence was wanted on two no-bail warrants.

After clearing the first arrest, officers attempted to locate the female.

While contacting the female at the residence, officers observed signs of an active overdose and summoned Gardiner Rescue.

The female was immediately transported to MaineGeneral in Augusta.

Citizens are encouraged to call 911 immediately if they believe someone is experiencing an overdose.
