ALBANY — A 38-year-old Albany woman has been charged in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred on Lexington Avenue near First Street early Saturday morning.
On July 19 around 4:55 a.m., officers responded to Lexington Avenue near First Street for reports of a stabbing.
Upon arrival, officers located evidence consistent with a stabbing but were unable to locate a victim.
A short time later, officers responded to Albany Memorial Hospital for reports of a walk-in stabbing victim.
Upon arrival, they located a 36-year-old woman with significant stab wounds to her neck and back area.
The victim was stabilized and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital, where she is listed in critical but stable condition.
Kinyetta Gordon, 38, was located at Albany Medical Center Hospital, where she was receiving medical treatment for a cut to her hand and was taken into custody.
Through investigation, members from the Albany Police Department determined that Gordon and the victim were involved in a physical altercation on Lexington Avenue at the time of the stabbing incident.
A second victim was also located with a cut to her hand, which she sustained while attempting to break up the altercation.
Gordon has been charged with one count of attempted murder in the second degree, one count of assault in the second degree, and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.
She was arraigned Saturday morning and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
