PANTON — Vermont State Police have arrested a 22-year-old man on a charge of first-degree aggravated assault following a stabbing incident Thursday evening.
Jose Armando Lopez Moreno of Panton was taken into custody after continued investigation into the incident that occurred about 5:30 p.m. Thursday on Jersey Street.
The victim, Marcos Diaz Lopez, 23, of Panton, remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
Lopez Moreno was brought to the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Middlebury for an arraignment scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Friday.

The affidavit of probable cause will be filed with the court and made public following the arraignment.
