Malta traffic stop leads to forgery arrest

MALTA — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop for speeding Wednesday at 8:27 p.m. on state Route 9P in the town of Malta.

Investigation into the stop led to the arrest of Natalie K. Stuart, 19, of Malta, for criminal possession of a forged instrument in the 2nd degree, a class D felony, and speed in zone, an infraction.

Stuart is accused of possessing a forged New York State driver’s license and of providing it to the deputy at the traffic stop.

She was also charged with driving in excess of the maximum posted speed limit.

Stuart was released on appearance tickets at the direction of the Malta Town Court pending further proceedings.
