DELHI — Sheriff Craig DuMond announced the arrest of a Delhi man on multiple charges.
On July 13, while on patrol in the Village of Delhi, Sheriff’s Deputies observed a vehicle being operated while the driver failed to use a turn signal.
Upon conducting a traffic stop, the driver was unable to provide a valid driver’s license but provided a name and date of birth.
Upon further investigation during the traffic stop and upon utilizing K9 Dexter for an exterior search of the vehicle, Deputies located a quantity of methamphetamine and illegal fireworks.
It was further discovered during the investigation that the driver had provided Deputies with a false name and pedigree information.
Deputies subsequently identified the operator of the vehicle as Ryan Fletcher, 42 years old of Delhi.
Following an inquiry with the NYS DMV, Deputies determined that Fletcher’s privileges to operate a motor vehicle in New York state were suspended.
As a result of the traffic stop and investigation, Deputies arrested and charged Fletcher with Unlawful Possession of Fireworks, a violation of the New York State Penal Law.
Fletcher was also charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the 2nd degree and Criminal Impersonation in the 2nd degree, all misdemeanors of the New York State Penal Law.
Fletcher was additionally charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operator in the 3rd degree, an unclassified misdemeanor of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
Fletcher was issued traffic summonses for Failure to Use a Turn Signal and Unlicensed Operator, both violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
Fletcher was released on appearance tickets and traffic summonses and was directed to appear at the Town of Delhi court at a later date to answer the charges.
Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted on scene by the Village of Delhi Police Department.
