2 Springfield men arrested on drug, weapon charges in Ludlow

LUDLOW — Two Springfield men were arrested on multiple drug and weapon charges following a fight over a lottery ticket on Gamache Drive.

Joel Carrero, 43, and Anthony Gonzalez, 48, both of Springfield, were taken into custody after police responded to reports of two men fighting, with one armed with a knife, at approximately 1:39 p.m. Monday.

Carrero was charged with disorderly conduct, assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of a Class B substance (subsequent offense) and carrying of a dangerous weapon.

Gonzalez was charged with disorderly conduct, assault with a dangerous weapon and possession of a Class B substance.

Officers located and detained both men upon arrival at the scene.

One of the men sustained a laceration on his arm and was treated at the scene by Ludlow Fire Department paramedics.

There were no other injuries reported.

During a preliminary search, officers found what was believed to be crack cocaine on both suspects.

Both men were arrested without incident.

Carrero and Gonzalez were arraigned in Palmer District Court and released on $250 cash bail each.
