Yonkers woman charged with aggravated DWI after crash, altercation on Interstate 87

YONKERS — Troopers from SP Tarrytown were dispatched to Interstate 87 in Yonkers at approximately 5:23 p.m. July 10 for a report of a two-car accident and a physical altercation between both operators.

An investigation determined that a Volkswagen Atlas, driven by Kaitlyn Slicker-Abulteen, 35, of Warwick, was traveling southbound in the right lane on Interstate 87 when she was involved in a motor vehicle collision.

Prior to troopers’ arrival, a physical altercation took place.

While being interviewed by troopers, Slicker-Abulteen exhibited signs of intoxication and standardized field sobriety tests were administered, which she failed.

Further investigation revealed that two children were present in the vehicle with Slicker-Abulteen.

Slicker-Abulteen was arrested and transported to SP Tarrytown for processing, then transported to SP Hawthorn where she provided a breath sample with a BAC of 0.14%.

Slicker-Abulteen was charged with harassment in the second degree, aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law as a Class E felony, driving while intoxicated as a first offense, and operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of 0.08% or higher as a first offense.

Slicker-Abulteen was issued tickets returnable to Yonkers City Court on July 30 and was released to a sober third party.

City of Yonkers Police assisted on scene.
