EAST FISHKILL — A Pleasant Valley man was arrested for driving while intoxicated with a 12-year-old child in his vehicle Friday night on the Taconic State Parkway.
A New York State Police trooper from the Stormville Barracks stopped a Ford traveling northbound on the parkway at approximately 10:42 p.m. July 11 for multiple traffic violations.
The driver, Preston J. Kellner, 54, of Pleasant Valley, displayed signs of intoxication during the stop.
Kellner failed standardized field sobriety tests administered by the trooper.
Investigation revealed a 12-year-old child was in the vehicle at the time of the stop.
Kellner was arrested and transported to the Stormville barracks for processing, where he refused to submit to a chemical breath test.
The child passenger was safely turned over to a sober party.
Kellner was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger under Leandra’s Law, a Class E felony, driving while intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor, and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.
He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in East Fishkill Town Court Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 5:00 p.m.
