1 min read

UTICA — Police units were dispatched to a convenience store on the 600 block of Bleecker Street on July 9 in response to a burglary alarm.

Upon arrival, officers found that the front glass door had been broken and that unknown individuals had entered the store, stealing the register.

Store employees arrived soon after and surveillance video was obtained showing two juveniles breaking the window and stealing the items.

Due to the obvious ages of the suspects, the case was assigned to an investigator with the Juvenile Aid Division.

Upon viewing the footage, the investigator identified the suspects from prior familiarity.

Both juveniles were ultimately located.

One suspect, age 11, could not be criminally charged due to his age.

The other suspect, age 13, was charged with burglary in the third degree and issued an appearance ticket to Family Court/Probation.
