Westford crash sends 2 to hospital

WESTFORD — Vermont State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries on VT Route 128 near Talcott Road on July 13 at approximately 10:23 p.m.

Jennifer Lee, 38, of Winooski, was traveling north on VT Route 128 in a 2023 Toyota Rav4 when her vehicle crossed over the center line into the southbound lane, according to preliminary investigation.

Lee struck a 2013 Hyundai Tucson operated by Gretchen Woerner, 58, of Milton, who was traveling southbound on VT Route 128.

Woerner attempted to avoid Lee’s vehicle, but both vehicles collided in the southbound lane.

Lee, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained injuries to her neck and legs.

Woerner, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained injuries to her head, neck, knee and shoulder, and had trouble breathing.

Both drivers were transported to Northwestern Medical Center for treatment.

Road conditions were wet and weather was cloudy at the time of the crash.

Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage on the driver’s side.

Through continued investigation, troopers developed probable cause that Lee was operating under the influence of alcohol.

Lee was arrested and released with a citation to appear at Chittenden County Superior Court on Sept. 9 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to a charge of DUI.
