OLD ORCHARD BEACH — The Old Orchard Beach Police Department has made 14 Operating Under the Influence arrests since July 5, with 9 of those arrests occurring this past weekend.
The police department reported a sharp rise in impaired driving arrests over the past ten days.
Officers said each arrest represents a potentially life-threatening decision and a serious risk to everyone on the road.
The department urged people who have been drinking not to drive and to call for alternative transportation instead.
Police said their goal is to protect the safety of the community, including both residents and visitors.
The department said officers are actively patrolling and looking for impaired drivers.
