Homer man charged in Truxton domestic incident

TRUXTON — A 19-year-old Homer man was arrested on domestic violence charges after allegedly obstructing a victim’s breathing during a physical altercation.

Bryce A. Murray of Phelps Road was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing, unlawful imprisonment in the second degree and harassment in the second degree following the July 12 incident.

Cortland County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched at approximately 7:38 p.m. to investigate a domestic disturbance at a Truxton residence.

Investigators determined Murray engaged in a physical altercation with a known victim and held the victim down while obstructing their breathing.

Murray left the scene before officers arrived but later turned himself in at the sheriff’s office.

He was arrested at 11:21 p.m. July 12 and arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process at 8:00 a.m. July 13.

Murray was released on his own recognizance.

His next court appearance is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Aug. 13 in Truxton Town Court.
