BOSTON — A 14-year-old boy was arrested early Sunday morning after police found him carrying a loaded firearm in Jamaica Plain.
Officers assigned to District B-2 were on patrol around 2:30 a.m. when they observed about 80 people playing loud music outside 920 Parker Street on Heath Street.
Three individuals were seen walking away from the group while repeatedly looking around and clutching their waistbands.
When officers parked their cruiser to speak with the individuals, all three fled on foot.
Police pursued the suspects and apprehended one of them at 954 Parker Street.
Officers recovered a Taurus G3 firearm from the suspect’s waistband with one round in the chamber and four rounds in a magazine capable of holding 17 total rounds.
The juvenile is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on charges of carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity firearm, and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
Police also determined the suspect had two active arrest warrants for assault and battery on a police officer and vandalizing property.
