DELHI — A 71-year-old man died Friday afternoon in a head-on collision on State Highway 28 that seriously injured an off-duty New York State trooper, police said.
Roger Hadley of Andes was driving a pickup truck southbound at approximately 4:19 p.m. when he crossed over the double solid yellow line into oncoming traffic near Glen Burnie Road, according to state police.
The pickup truck struck an SUV traveling northbound head-on.
Hadley was pronounced dead at the scene.
The SUV driver was identified as New York State Trooper Anna Aulino, who was off duty and traveling home in her personal vehicle after completing her shift.
Aulino sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Albany Medical Center.
Her injuries appear to be non-life threatening, police said.
Aulino graduated from the New York State Police Academy in 2023 and is assigned to Troop C.
The State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to conduct a full reconstruction of the crash.
The Office of the Attorney General has been notified and is also investigating.
The investigation is ongoing.
