Boston police arrest man on firearm charges after gun call in Mattapan

BOSTON — Officers assigned to District B-3 arrested Kewan Burton-Strong, 26, of Boston, on firearm charges Thursday.

At about 11:46 p.m., officers responded to the area of 90 Glenway for a report of a person with a gun.

Boston Police Operations provided officers with a description of the suspect who was seen reaching towards his waistband and making threats to someone.

Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect walking behind a vehicle on Page Street.

Officers exited their marked cruiser and quickly stopped the suspect.

Due to the nature of the call, a pat frisk was conducted, which revealed a firearm from the suspect’s waistband.

District B-3 Detectives were requested to respond to the scene and process the evidence.

The firearm was determined to be a Colt .32 with one round in the chamber and six rounds in the magazine.

Burton-Strong was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of carrying a loaded firearm without a license, second offense; carrying a firearm without a license, second offense; and possession of ammunition without a license, subsequent offense.
