RHODE ISLAND — Two Massachusetts residents were arrested July 10 after police discovered more than $100,000 worth of stolen merchandise at their home following a shoplifting investigation that began in May.
Di J. DiPinto, also known as Dennis DiPinto, and Beverly DiPinto, both of 5 Blossom Lane, Berkley, Massachusetts, were arrested after police executed a search warrant at their residence.
The investigation began May 26 when patrol officers responded t 561 Thames Street for a reported shoplifting incident.
Two suspects described as a male and female in their 40s or early 50s driving a Suzuki motorcycle were captured on video stealing items valued at $471.
Detectives Michael McCabe and Mark Lubin were assigned to the case and used investigative tools, including Flock Cameras, to identify the suspects.
Police discovered that Di J. DiPinto was wanted on outstanding warrants for shoplifting from the Cranston and Warwick police departments.
Detectives worked with the Berkley Police Department to obtain arrest warrants for both suspects and a search warrant for their residence.
Police executed the search warrant alongside members of the Plymouth County Sheriff’s BCI office and the Bristol County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit.
Detectives are working to locate and return the stolen items to the respective stores from which they were taken.
Both suspects were arraigned in Taunton District Court, then taken to the police department
Beverly DiPinto was released on $10,000 surety bail.
Di J. DiPinto was held for arraignment in court on July 11 before being turned over to the Cranston and Warwick police departments.
