NASSAU — A 43-year-old man shot another motorist twice in the chest during a road rage altercation Thursday evening on Nassau Averill Park Road, state police said.
Ryan J. Hoffman of Averill Park was involved in a physical fight with Cody R. Morrill, 33, of East Greenbush around 8:14 p.m. on County Route 15.
During the altercation, Hoffman discharged a legally possessed firearm and struck Morrill twice in the chest, according to investigators.
Morrill was transported to Albany Medical Center where he is listed in critical but stable condition.
The two men reportedly do not know each other.
Hoffman remained at the scene where he was detained by troopers.
He has been cooperative with the investigation and has since been released.
No criminal charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.
The road closure concluded at approximately 12:45 a.m. Friday and all roadways have been reopened.
