2 Ramapo officers injured during traffic stop arrest

RAMAPO — Two Ramapo police officers were hospitalized after being injured during a traffic stop arrest.

The officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and discovered the 27-year-old driver from Nanuet had a suspended license, a bench warrant out of New Hempstead, and an arrest warrant from the Town of Clarkstown.

When officers attempted to take the man into custody, he violently resisted, injuring both officers in the process.

The suspect was ultimately subdued and taken into custody.

He is now facing multiple charges, including felony assault in the second degree, and is currently being processed at Ramapo Police Headquarters.
