Poultney man charged with domestic assault after family fight

POULTNEY — A 52-year-old man was charged with domestic assault after Vermont State Police responded to a family fight Wednesday evening.

William Rice Jr. of Poultney was charged with two counts of second degree aggravated domestic assault, according to a news release from the Vermont State Police.

Troopers from the Rutland Barracks responded to the incident on South Street at approximately 8 p.m. July 9.

Through investigation, troopers determined Rice had caused pain and injury to a household member, police said.

Rice was cited to appear before the Rutland County Superior Court, Criminal Division on July 10 at 12:30 p.m.
