Plattsburgh man charged with weapon, drug offenses after traffic stop

PLATTSBURGH — A 47-year-old Plattsburgh man faces multiple weapon and drug charges after a traffic stop July 8.

New York State Police Troop B Community Stabilization Unit members charged Daryl L. Perkins with possession of a controlled substance in a non-original container, possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree (previous conviction), criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree (defaced for concealment), and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree (loaded firearm).

Perkins also received several vehicle and traffic tickets.

State police observed a black 2007 Dodge traveling on Route 3 in violation of vehicle and traffic laws.

Troopers conducted a traffic stop and interviewed Perkins, who was driving the vehicle.

A probable cause search revealed drug paraphernalia, narcotics, and a loaded defaced firearm.

Perkins was arrested and taken to SP Plattsburgh.

He was arraigned in the Town of Plattsburgh Court and remanded to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.
