HOLYOKE — Holyoke police arrested two Chicopee residents Tuesday on drug charges following citizen complaints about open-air drug dealing in the Cabot Street area.
Police Chief Brian Keenan announced that detectives and members of the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department received information about suspected drug dealing in the area July 8.
Detective Joseph Emiterio relayed the information to patrol officers.
Officer Johnathan Ortiz observed an individual matching a suspect’s description, later identified as Marta Rosado-Hernandez, with two male subjects.
Officers identified one male as Jomar Munoz, while the other male was known to police.
Officers Justo Pagan and Xavier DeJesus observed Munoz holding a potato chip bag containing crack cocaine.
Munoz was placed under arrest.
As officers requested a female officer to search Rosado-Hernandez, Munoz attempted to run away while handcuffed.
Officers Ortiz and DeJesus secured him shortly after.
Officer Marian Rivera located seven bags of crack cocaine on Rosado-Hernandez, and she was placed under arrest.
The third individual was released from the scene.
Officers seized $243 from Rosado-Hernandez and $155 from Munoz.
Jomar Munoz, 33, of Chicopee is charged with possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug, possession of a Class B drug, conspiracy to violate drug law, resisting arrest and trespassing.
Marta Rosado-Hernandez, 40, of Chicopee is charged with possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug, possession of a Class B drug, conspiracy to violate drug law and trespassing.
