SCHODACK — State Police arrested a 38-year-old Schodack man on multiple felony charges following a domestic disturbance that lasted nearly four hours June 28.
Shawn J. Eriole was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, assault in the second degree, two counts of strangulation in the second degree, three counts of menacing in the second degree, criminal mischief in the fourth degree, criminal obstruction of breathing, three counts of assault in the third degree, unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, coercion in the third degree and reckless endangerment.
Troopers responded to a report of a disturbance at a Schodack home at about 4:40 p.m.
Officers found a victim with multiple obvious injuries upon arrival.
The investigation determined Eriole was allegedly involved in an altercation that began at approximately 12:45 p.m. and continued until troopers arrived.
During that time, Eriole reportedly repeatedly struck and injured the victim.
Police said he held the victim against their will, strangled them to the point of unconsciousness, threatened both their safety and the safety of the victim’s family, threatened them multiple times with a knife, and prevented them from calling 911 for assistance.
The victim was evaluated by EMS for what was believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Eriole was taken into custody at the scene and transported to State Police Schodack for processing.
He was arraigned at Schodack Town Court and remanded to the Rensselaer County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash, $10,000 bond, or a $10,000 partially secured bond.
