HOLYOKE — Holyoke police officers seized a loaded large-capacity ghost gun and arrested a 20-year-old Springfield man Tuesday evening.
Ethan Rodriguez was taken into custody after officers responded to a gun call at 308 Walnut Street around 8:55 p.m. July 8.
Officer Xavier DeJesus arrived at the scene and located Rodriguez as a possible suspect.
Rodriguez began running away while grabbing his waistband and satchel, according to police.
Detectives David Seidel and William Lebrun took Rodriguez into custody at Hampshire Street and Elm Street with assistance from other officers.
Detectives and Officer Justo Pagan recovered an illegal firearm from Rodriguez’s satchel.
The weapon was identified as a ghost gun with a 31-round high-capacity magazine loaded with 23 rounds of ammunition.
Rodriguez faces charges including carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a large capacity feeding device, possession of ammunition without an FID card, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
