Rochester man arrested in Avon, Lima burglaries

AVON — A Rochester man faces multiple burglary and larceny charges following break-ins at four residences in Livingston County.

Christopher Montanez, 24, was arrested July 3 after an investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to two separate residences in Lima and Avon on July 1 at approximately 8:00 a.m. for reports of burglaries that occurred in the early morning hours.

On July 3, deputies were dispatched to two additional residences in Avon for burglary reports that also occurred in the early morning hours.

Authorities allege Montanez entered the residences and stole money and property.

Montanez was charged with two counts of felony burglary in the second degree, seven counts of felony grand larceny in the fourth degree, three counts of misdemeanor petit larceny, one count of misdemeanor criminal trespass in the third degree, and one count of trespass.

He was transported to the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.

Montanez was arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part before Town of Leicester Justice Scofield.

The District Attorney’s Office recommended bail be set at $25,000 cash or $37,500 bond.

The judge remanded Montanez to the custody of the sheriff with bail set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.

The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented Montanez at the arraignment.
