Norfolk man dies in single-vehicle crash on County Route 38

NORFOLK — New York State Police responded to a one-vehicle collision on County Route 38 in the town of Norfolk on July 6 at approximately 1:38 p.m.

An investigation revealed that a white 2008 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling northbound on County Route 38 when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle went off the roadway, into an embankment, overturned, and ultimately came to rest, striking a tree.

Members of the Norfolk Fire and Rescue team were on the scene and medically examined the operator, who was showing no signs of life.

The operator was identified as John A. Vari, age 63, from Norwood.

Vari was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Lawrence County Coroner.

This is an ongoing investigation.
