MALTA — State Police arrested Timothy A. Aurand, 49, of Port Royal, Pa., on June 25 for criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, driving while ability impaired by drugs and other vehicle and traffic law violations.
Troopers stopped a vehicle driven by Aurand at about 9:39 p.m. for multiple vehicle and traffic law violations on Interstate 87 in Malta.
During the investigation, police determined that Aurand’s driving privileges were suspended in New York and he showed signs of impairment.
Aurand was arrested for driving while ability impaired by drugs and other vehicle and traffic law violations.
With assistance from Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Praga, an illegally possessed handgun loaded with an illegal high-capacity magazine was located in Aurand’s vehicle and seized.
Aurand was transported to State Police Saratoga for processing where he was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert and a sample was taken to determine drug content in his blood.
He was arraigned at Malta Town Court where he was remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility without bail.
