VAN ETTEN — A 53-year-old Van Etten man was arrested on a felony weapon charge following a traffic stop Saturday, the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday.
Kevin J. Clark was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a Class C felony.
A deputy conducted the traffic stop on State Route 34 in the town of Van Etten for a vehicle and traffic law violation.
The deputy noticed the driver and passenger appeared extremely nervous and conducted a further investigation.
Both occupants were removed from the vehicle and deputies searched the car.
Deputies found a loaded 9mm handgun during the search and detained both individuals.
Clark was arraigned in Van Etten Town Court and remanded to the Chemung County Jail.
