SPRINGFIELD — Springfield police officers arrested a 30-year-old man Saturday morning in connection with an arson on Kenyon Street.
Jose Rodriguez of Springfield was taken into custody at approximately 11:40 a.m. on the 0-100 block of Kenyon Street.
Officers responded to a home on Kenyon Street around 11:00 a.m. for a disturbance.
Rodriguez is alleged to have poured gasoline on the house and then ignited the gasoline.
Officers located Rodriguez and detained him.
Officers used their fire extinguishers to put out the flames.
Springfield firefighters arrived and assisted with the response.
Members of the Springfield Arson & Bomb Squad are investigating the incident.
The type of liquid poured on and around the house is unclear at this time.
Rodriguez is charged with arson of a dwelling/house, arson and threat to commit a crime.
