PUTNEY — A 71-year-old Connecticut man was arrested on a driving under the influence charge after deputies received a report of a suspicious vehicle on Route 5.
Bernard J. Witkovitch of Fairfield, Connecticut, was taken into custody June 26 at Harlow’s Sugar House in Putney, according to the Windham County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle traveling on Route 5 and located the vehicle at the sugar house.
Witkovitch was identified as the operator of the vehicle.
During the investigation, Witkovitch consented to standardized field sobriety testing and was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
He was transported to the Windham County Sheriff’s Office for processing.
Witkovitch was later released on a citation to appear at Windham Superior Court – Criminal Division on July 8.
The investigating deputies were Jacob Cohen, Ashley Pinger and Thomas Raymond.
The Brattleboro Police Department assisted with the investigation.
