Auburn woman charged with harassment in Weedsport threats case

WEEDSPORT — A 33-year-old Auburn woman was arrested June 28 on charges of aggravated harassment in the second degree after allegedly threatening another person through electronic messages.

Tamara L. Buchanan was taken into custody at 7:33 a.m. by Cayuga County Sheriff’s deputies, according to Sheriff Brian Schenck.

Deputies responded to an address in Weedsport at 5:37 a.m. June 25 where a victim reported being threatened with physical harm via electronic means.

The investigation revealed that Buchanan sent messages to the victim threatening to assault them.

Deputies determined that Buchanan did send the threatening messages, leading to her arrest on the misdemeanor charge.

Buchanan was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Weedsport Village Court on July 7.
