Cortland man charged with felony after traffic stop

CORTLANDVILLE — A 24-year-old Cortland man was arrested July 4 on felony charges after a traffic stop revealed he was driving with a suspended license.

Nicholas J. Ramcharan of North Homer Avenue was pulled over at 2:30 p.m. on State Route 13 by a Cortland County Sheriff’s Office deputy for a traffic violation.

The deputy determined Ramcharan was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.

Ramcharan was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree, a felony, along with infractions for unlicensed operator and speed in zone.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for processing.

Ramcharan was arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process at 8:00 p.m. the same day and released on his own recognizance.

His next court appearance is scheduled for July 9 at 11:30 a.m. in Cortlandville Town Court.
