BOSTON — Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested a 22-year-old Dorchester man on multiple firearm offenses Saturday afternoon following a large party call in Mattapan.
Camran Brown was taken into custody after officers recovered what police determined to be a ghost gun during a foot pursuit, according to the Boston Police Department.
At about 1:50 p.m., officers responding to a large party call on River Street heard radio broadcasts about a fight involving a potentially armed suspect.
Officers began canvassing the area and observed an individual walking toward them while touching his right pocket.
The suspect was seen tapping his pocket again and pinning his right arm to his body as he approached officers.
When the suspect walked past officers, he immediately began running at full sprint.
During the ensuing foot pursuit, officers observed the suspect discard an unknown item.
Officers located a firearm underneath a vehicle in the area.
The suspect continued running and was apprehended near 920 Cummins Highway.
Detectives photographed and processed the firearm, which was determined to be a ghost gun with one round in the chamber and 16 rounds in the magazine.
Brown is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court on charges of carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and possession of a large capacity feeding device.
