BOSTON — A 27-year-old Dorchester man was arrested on firearm charges after a stolen gun fell from his clothing during a police encounter in Mattapan on Saturday morning.

Oved Rejouis was taken into custody by officers assigned to District B-3 following the incident on Stratton Street near Ames Street.

Police responded to the area at about 5:15 a.m. for a report of a fight.

Upon arrival, officers did not observe any individuals fighting but saw multiple groups in the area.

While speaking with the groups, officers observed an individual across the street acting hypervigilant as a Boston Police cruiser drove by.

The individual was seen manipulating the right side of his waistband and turning his body away from the cruiser.

Officers watched as the man clutched his waistband while walking toward Westview Street.

Police exited their cruiser and attempted to conduct a pat frisk.

As the suspect removed his hand from his waistband, a firearm fell from his right shorts pant leg.

The suspect was immediately handcuffed and B-3 detectives were called to assist in processing evidence.

The weapon was identified as a Ruger SR1911 with one round in the chamber and eight rounds in the magazine.

A serial number check revealed the firearm was stolen.

Rejouis is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful carrying of a loaded firearm and receiving stolen property.
