SWANTON — A 68-year-old Alburgh man and his passenger were hospitalized Thursday after their pickup truck hydroplaned and rolled over in the median of Interstate 89 north near Exit 20.
Albert Roberge was driving a 2019 GMC Sierra northbound on I-89 near mile marker 117 at approximately 12:24 p.m. when the vehicle hydroplaned on the wet roadway during rainy conditions.
The truck entered the median and rolled over, coming to rest closer to the southbound lane.
Roberge and his passenger, 73-year-old Leo Roberge of St. Albans City, were both wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Both men sustained suspected non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Northwestern Medical Center for evaluation.
The vehicle was totaled in the crash.
The southbound lane was temporarily closed during the response but has since reopened.
St. Albans Town Fire Department, Missisquoi Valley Rescue and Fairfax Rescue assisted state police at the scene.
