North Haven woman charged with assault in April knife attack

NORTH HAVEN — A 37-year-old North Haven woman has been arrested in connection with a knife attack that left a victim with severe chest wounds in April.

Brittany Young was charged with assault in the first degree and is being held on $200,000 bond, according to the North Haven Police Department.

Police responded to a report of an individual in the roadway on Overbrook Road who had sustained a knife wound to the chest and torso on April 20 at approximately 8:15 p.m.

Officers provided immediate medical assistance to the victim and conducted a search of the area.

The suspect had fled the scene before officers arrived.

North Haven detectives documented evidence, conducted preliminary interviews and identified a suspect.

Working with the New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office, detectives executed multiple search and seizure warrants to obtain electronic forensic evidence related to the incident.

An arrest warrant was prepared and signed by a judge following the investigation.

North Haven detectives located and apprehended Young on July 3.
