Bath man arrested on drug charges after methamphetamine found in police car

BATH — A 42-year-old Bath man was arrested on felony drug charges after police found methamphetamine in a patrol car following his initial arrest.

Dale L. Comstock was first arrested at approximately 3:30 a.m. July 3 for public lewdness and transported in a marked Bath Police Department patrol unit.

Following Comstock’s release from custody, Bath police officers located a large quantity of methamphetamine in the rear of the patrol unit at approximately 5:45 a.m.

Police allege Comstock tampered with evidence by concealing the methamphetamine on his person and dropping it in the patrol car to prevent officers from finding it during his arrest.

Comstock was located and apprehended at approximately 8:00 a.m. at a residence on State Route 415.

He is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, a Class A-II felony, and tampering with physical evidence, a Class E felony.

Comstock was transported to the Steuben County Jail for arraignment and was released.

The Bath Police Department was assisted by the New York State Police and Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.
