LAWRENCE — The Lawrence Police Department received a broadcast from Lawrence Police Dispatch on Thursday indicating that the North Andover Police Department was in pursuit of armed robbery suspects at approximately 10:45 a.m.

The suspects were fleeing into Lawrence via Marston Street in a Honda CRV.

Multiple Lawrence patrol units, along with members of the Special Operations and Detective Divisions, immediately responded to the area to assist.

The suspects crashed near Marston Street and fled on foot into nearby residential neighborhoods and wooded areas.

Lawrence units, along with members of the North Andover Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police, Methuen Police Department, the Essex County Sheriff’s Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation set up a containment perimeter and began a methodical search using human resources, drones, K9 units and the MSP Air Wing.

After a brief foot pursuit, Lawrence officers successfully apprehended one suspect.

As the search proceeded, a Lawrence officer working a road detail observed three additional suspects hiding in a crawl space beneath the double-decker bridge, wedged between the foundation and a support beam.

The suspects were ordered to surrender one by one and were taken into custody without further incident.
