Providence police arrest 3 in separate incidents

PROVIDENCE — Rhode Island State Police made three arrests in separate incidents involving motor vehicle stops and accidents.

At 4:07 p.m., Troopers Thomas and Dietsch arrested Eugene Gomez, 54, of 13 Woodward Street, Norton, Massachusetts, on a 4th Division Court bench warrant.

The warrant was for the original charge of driving with a suspended/cancelled/revoked license from the Narragansett Police Department.

The arrest resulted from troopers responding to a motor vehicle accident on Route 95.

Gomez was transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks, processed, and released after arraignment by a Justice of the Peace with a 4th Division Court date.

At 10:06 p.m., Trooper Richards, assisted by troopers from the Lincoln Woods and Scituate Barracks, arrested Julio Tavares, 46, of 20 Balcom Street, Apt. 3, Providence.

Tavares was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor, refusal to submit to a chemical test, obstructing an officer in execution of duty, and reckless driving.

The arrest resulted from troopers responding to a motor vehicle accident on Calder Street.

Tavares was transported to the Rhode Island State Police Lincoln Woods Barracks where he was processed and held overnight as a bail violator pending arraignment at Sixth District Court.

At 1:46 a.m., Trooper Ellis arrested Michael Jean, 24, on a Sixth District Court bench warrant for failure to appear for arraignment on a charge of driving with an expired license.

The arrest resulted from a motor vehicle stop on Harford Avenue.

Jean was transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks where he was processed and later transported to the Adult Correctional Institution.
