WALTON — A Franklin man was arrested on felony driving while intoxicated charges after deputies observed his vehicle failing to maintain its lane on County Highway 21.
Joseph Amato, 51, was charged Thursday night with driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction in the past 10 years, a class E felony.
Sheriff’s deputies were traveling on County Highway 21 in the Town of Walton when they observed a vehicle failing to maintain travel in its designated lane and at one point coming to a stop in the lane of travel.
A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Amato.
Amato was also issued traffic summonses for moving from lane unsafely, failing to keep right, parking on a highway and drivers view obstructed.
He was additionally charged with obstructing governmental administration, a class A misdemeanor.
Amato was transported to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to await arraignment at the Delaware County Centralized Arraignment Part Court.
