Watervliet juvenile arrested after displaying flare gun during altercation

WATERVLIET — On June 26 at approximately 6:30 p.m., Watervliet police officers responded to investigate a report of a subject threatening another person with a handgun.

During the investigation, officers learned that a juvenile male had lifted his shirt to display what appeared to be a revolver.

Officers located a suspect matching the description near 19th Street and 10th Avenue.

After a brief foot pursuit, officers apprehended a male juvenile and recovered a loaded flare gun nearby.

Watervliet police charged a 13-year-old male resident with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree and Menacing in the 2nd Degree, both Class A misdemeanors.

The juvenile was released to a guardian and issued an appearance ticket for a later date in Family Court.
