WORCESTER — A man was arrested Wednesday after police said he threw explosive devices from a window on Catharine Street.
Officers responded to reports of explosions at approximately 11:36 a.m. on July 2.
Upon arrival, they heard a loud blast and saw smoke filling the street.
A witness told police a man had been lighting half sticks of dynamite and throwing them out of a window.
Officers entered the suspect’s residence and found several large, red explosive sticks.
Richard Dupre, 62, was arrested and charged with throwing or placing an incendiary device, discharging or exploding an incendiary device, vandalism, disturbing the peace and possession of an incendiary device.
The Worcester Police Crime Scene Unit and Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad responded due to the size of the devices.
The Bomb Squad confirmed the items were incendiary devices and removed them for controlled detonation.
No injuries were reported.
