NEW HARTFORD — Police arrested a 12-year-old male Tuesday after a reported menacing incident at Consumer Square.
The New Hartford Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 3 p.m. after a female victim reported that two young males approached her in the parking lot.
The victim stated that one of the males brandished a knife and became verbally abusive before both fled on foot.
No injuries were reported.
Officers located the suspect and recovered a knife believed to be involved in the incident.
The juvenile was charged with menacing in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, both misdemeanors.
He was released to his parents and will appear before the Oneida County Probation Department later this month.
