WATERFORD — Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect who allegedly attempted to use stolen credit cards at two stores in Waterford Commons shopping center on June 23.

The suspect tried to use the cards at Best Buy and Dick’s Sporting Goods stores, according to the Waterford Police Department.

Both purchase attempts were denied due to text authorization requirements set up by the account holders.

The suspect attempted to buy approximately $2,800 worth of merchandise, police said.

Police believe the credit cards were stolen from a gym in the Groton area.
