UTICA — Utica police arrested a 12-year-old boy June 30 in connection with a May 31 shooting in the 900 block of Stark Street.
Police units were initially dispatched to the area following a ShotSpotter notification of gunshots.
Officers found several spent shell casings at the scene.
The case was assigned to GIVE investigators for follow-up.
Investigators located surveillance video of the suspect and other corroborating evidence that led to charges against the individual.
Police determined the suspect was 12 years old and had an outstanding Oneida County Family Court warrant.
Investigators with the Utica Police and Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Unit located and arrested the suspect.
The juvenile was charged with reckless endangerment in the first degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and criminal possession of a firearm.
The juvenile’s name will not be released due to his age.
