VANBUREN — State Police were dispatched to the area of 2245 Warners Road in the town of VanBuren, Onondaga County for a vehicle crash on June 29 at 12:21 a.m.
On arrival, Troopers interviewed the vehicle operator, Joseph C. Brown, age 39, from Syracuse, who stated that he lost control of a 2024 Chevrolet pickup truck.
Investigation revealed that Brown was traveling west on Warners Road when he lost control of the vehicle due to unsafe speed.
The vehicle then exited the roadway, struck an embankment off of the north shoulder and overturned twice.
Brown was not injured in the crash.
While interviewing Brown, Troopers noted signs of possible intoxication.
Brown was administered standardized field sobriety testing which he subsequently failed.
Brown was placed under arrest and transported to SP Lysander where he provided a breath test sample of 0.18% BAC.
Brown was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Misdemeanor), Driving while Intoxicated – 1st Offense (Misdemeanor), Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent (Infraction), and Moved From Lane Unsafely (Infraction).
Brown was released with appearance tickets returnable to the town of VanBuren Court at a later date.
