Man arrested on weapons, drug charges after traffic stop in Canton

CANTON — The Canton Village Police Department, with assistance from the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a traffic stop Monday on Main Street.

During the stop, officers discovered the vehicle’s operator had a suspended driver’s license and was in possession of a loaded handgun.

The handgun was an unserialized “ghost gun,” according to police.

Cisco V. Colon of Winthrop, New York, was also found in possession of a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun, powdered Fentanyl, Oxycodone and Tramadol.

Colon was arraigned before Judge Morgan of Canton Town Court and released to the St. Lawrence County Probation Department.

Colon is charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree (Loaded Firearm), a Class C felony.

He also faces one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree (Defaced Weapon), a Class D felony.

Additional charges include one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree (Previous Conviction), a Class D felony.

Colon is charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a Class E felony.

He faces three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, Class A misdemeanors.

Various New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law offenses are also pending.
