Hyde Park police arrest man in gas station armed robbery

HYDE PARK — A Florida man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a Sunoco gas station that netted approximately $2,500 in cash.

The Town of Hyde Park Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Sunoco Gas Station at 4299 Albany Post Rd. on June 26 at approximately 10:51 p.m.

According to police, a white male entered the establishment, displayed what appeared to be a black handgun, and demanded money from the clerk.

The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle after taking the cash.

Following an investigation, the Town of Hyde Park Police Detective Bureau identified the suspect as Dalton J. Desimone, 33, of Florida.

Desimone was located along with the suspect vehicle and taken into custody without incident on June 29 at approximately 10:13 a.m.

Desimone has been charged with robbery in the first degree, a Class B felony; grand larceny in the fourth degree, a Class E felony; and menacing in the second degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

Desimone was arraigned in the Town of Hyde Park Court before Judge McArthur.

He was remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center on $50,000 cash bail, $100,000 bond, or $250,000 partially secured bond.

The Town of Hyde Park Police Department thanked the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police for their assistance in the investigation.
