Utica man charged with burglary after breaking into dollar store

UTICA — A 42-year-old man was arrested after police say he broke into a Dollar General store and was caught exiting through a broken window while carrying stolen merchandise.

Utica Police units were dispatched to the Dollar General on the 1500 block of Genesee Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. June 28 regarding a burglary alarm with the front window broken.

Officers arriving at the scene witnessed a male exiting the store from the broken window carrying property from inside.

The man was immediately detained and then transported to the Utica Police Department.

Joshua Marcantel of Utica was charged with burglary in the third degree and petit larceny.
