SPRINGFIELD — Springfield Police Officers arrested a suspect after responding to two ShotSpotter activations in the city on Friday.
Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit Detectives then seized a rifle and numerous large capacity firearm magazines while executing a search warrant at the suspect’s home.
Around 5:35 p.m. Friday, Springfield Police Officers responded to the 0-100 block of Summit Street for a ShotSpotter activation.
Officers recovered evidence of a shooting.
About five minutes later, officers responded to a second ShotSpotter activation on the 2300 block of Main Street and officers recovered additional evidence.
Members of the Springfield Police Real-Time Analysis Center were able to utilize city cameras to share a picture of a suspect vehicle.
The vehicle was registered to Andy Perez-Coiscou.
Officers then went to his home on Woodrow Street in attempt to speak with Perez-Coiscou.
Officers located Perez-Coiscou and placed him under arrest.
Firearms Investigation Unit Detectives applied for and were granted a search warrant for his home.
Around 11:45 p.m., Detectives executed the search warrant.
Inside the home Detectives recovered a rifle, 100-round drum magazine, a rifle magazine loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition, an unloaded rifle magazine capable of holding 30 rounds of ammunition, loose ammunition and firearm accessories.
Andy Perez-Coiscou, 23, of Springfield is charged with possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of ammunition without an FID card, three counts of possession of a high-capacity feeding device, improper storage of a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and possession with the intent to distribute a class D drug.
