NORWALK — Police arrested a juvenile and a 19-year-old woman June 29 after officers located a stolen vehicle on the Stroffolino Bridge and the driver led them on a chase.

Officers attempted to safely contain the vehicle due to heavy traffic and pedestrians in the area, according to the Norwalk Police Department.

The juvenile driver began driving erratically, reversed in a reckless manner nearly striking a police cruiser, then drove into oncoming traffic, police said.

Officers made controlled contact with the vehicle, rendering it inoperable.

Both occupants fled on foot into Veterans Park after the vehicle was stopped.

Police pursued and arrested the juvenile driver and passenger Nevaeh Williams without incident.

The juvenile faces charges of larceny of a motor vehicle, interfering, reckless driving and engaging police in pursuit.

Williams, 19, of 54 Fairview Ave. Apt. 5, Stratford, was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and interfering with an officer.

Both were released on a promise to appear and are scheduled for court July 15.
